Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2026

Short version: we collect what we need, we don’t sell it, and we take your privacy seriously. Here’s the full picture.

What we collect

  • Your email address, used for your account and, if you opt in, notifications.
  • Your username: the only thing other users ever see.
  • The content of your vents, comments, and votes.
  • Your approximate country, auto-detected from your IP to localise the feed. We don't store your IP address.
  • Basic usage data: which pages are visited and when, used to improve the product. No advertising profiles, ever.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell your data. Not to anyone, not ever.
  • We don't display your real name anywhere on the platform.
  • We don't share your email with third parties.
  • We don't run advertising networks or tracking pixels.

Google sign-in

If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google. We store your email and create a username. That’s it. We don’t access your Google contacts, calendar, or any other data.

Cookies

We use a single session cookie to keep you signed in. That’s it. No tracking cookies, no ad retargeting, no third-party cookie networks. You can clear your cookies at any time. You’ll just need to sign in again.

Your data, your rights

You can request a copy of your data, or ask us to delete your account and all associated personal data, at any time. Email us at privacy@ventabout.com and we’ll action it within 30 days. Note that vents you’ve published may remain in anonymised form: the complaint is part of the public record, but your personal details are removed.

Changes to this policy

If we make a meaningful change to how we handle your data, we’ll notify you by email before it takes effect. Minor updates (fixing typos, clarifying wording) won’t trigger a notification.
